Join us on this group based trip taking on the last 115 kilometers from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela- One of the most popular sections of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. The last 100 kilometers of the Camino Francés is a beautiful and diverse stretch, taking walkers through picturesque landscapes, charming villages, and historical sites.

BREAKDOWN OF THIS CAMINO GROUP TRIP

Madrid 0 Nights- Sarria 1 Night- Portomarin  1 Night- Palas de Rei 1 Night-  Melide 1 Night- Arzua 1 Night-  Pedrouzo – 1 Night – Santiago de Compostela  2 Nights

DAY 1: Arrive in Madrid and get train to Saria, which is the starting point for this camino group walk

DAY  2 : Walk the first leg of this journey to Portomarin (21.4km) & stay overnight in Portomarin

DAY  3 : Start the next trek of the journey from Portomarin- Palas de Rei & stay overnight in Palas de Rei (24.8km)

DAY  4: Starting in Palas de Rei, you will walk another (15km) to Melide & stay overnight in Melide

DAY  5: Make your way from Melide to Arzua (13Km) and stay overnight in Arzua

DAY  6: Continue your camino walk from Arzua – O Pedrouzo  (19km)

DAY  7: The last leg of your group camino trip will be from  O Pedrouzo – Santiago de Compostela (19.5km)

DAY  8: This will be the last day of your trip for some much earned down time as a group! 🙂

  • Sarria

    Sarria is strategically located as the starting point for many pilgrims aiming to complete the last 100 kilometers of the Camino de Santiago. This distance is the minimum required to qualify for the Compostela, the certificate of completion issued in Santiago de Compostela. Sarria has a rich historical and cultural heritage. The town itself is characterized by charming medieval streets and historic buildings.
  • Portomarin

    Portomarín is a picturesque town in the province of Lugo, Galicia, Spain, and it is one of the notable stops along the Camino de Santiago. Portomarín is situated on the banks of the Miño River, in the northwestern part of Spain. Portomarín has a rich history that dates back to Roman times. The town was strategically located along the Roman road that connected Lugo and Astorga. The town is surrounded by lush greenery and offers a peaceful setting for pilgrims. The picturesque landscapes and historical sites make Portomarín a memorable stop on the Camino de Santiago.
  • Palas de Rei

    Palas de Rei is another charming town along the Camino de Santiago. The town has a history dating back to the Roman era, and evidence of Roman settlements can still be found in the surrounding area. One of the notable landmarks in Palas de Rei is the Church of San Tirso. This Romanesque church dates back to the 12th century and is dedicated to Saint Thyrsus, a martyr of the early Christian church. Palas de Rei is surrounded by the lush green landscapes typical of Galicia. The town itself has a mix of old and new, with traditional stone houses and more modern buildings.
  • Melide

    Melide is located in the central part of Galicia, approximately 53 kilometers (33 miles) from Santiago de Compostela. Melide was an important crossroads during the medieval period, and it played a role in facilitating trade and cultural exchange. Melide is particularly famous for its gastronomy, and it is considered a culinary highlight along the Camino de Santiago. Melide is a key point where various Camino routes converge. Pilgrims on the Camino Francés may find themselves crossing paths with those on the Camino Primitivo, another popular route.
  • Arzua

    Pilgrims on the Camino Francés often reach Arzúa after walking through various towns and landscapes, and it marks one of the final stages of their journey before reaching the ultimate destination of Santiago. Arzúa is famous for its cheese, particularly the Arzúa-Ulloa cheese.
  • Pedrouzo

    Pedrouzo, also known as O Pedrouzo, is situated in the province of A Coruña in the autonomous community of Galicia. Pedrouzo is situated relatively close to Santiago de Compostela, you will spend you last night here before making the final push to reach the cathedral.
  • Santiago de Compostela

    The stretch from Pedrouzo to Santiago de Compostela is one of the final and most significant parts of the Camino. Pilgrims often experience a range of emotions as they approach the cathedral, reflecting on their journey and the personal significance of reaching their destination. As pilgrims approach Santiago de Compostela, there is a palpable sense of anticipation and excitement. The final kilometers leading to the city are often marked by a mix of emotions.
