Hostels are pretty cheap in Madrid and it’s a good city to start off in. Stay in one of the good hostels and spend about 3-4 days in the city and be sure to catch a bullfight- it’s a great way to capture the Spanish Culture. Use Madrid as your Eastern European stepping stone before heading west to France or if you want head South to Barcelona.
